Al-Qalam Academy serves a community which is underserved in the DC metropolitan area. The school focuses on providing Muslim middle and high school students an Islamic environment to thrive in. Al-Qalam Academy provides a safe atmosphere for the Muslim children to grow and succeed and is dedicated to giving the children a strong foundation of secular knowledge to advance and achieve highly both in this world and the Hereafter.  The curriculum of Al-Qalam has been created with great dedication and careful attention. The goal has always been to give the students knowledge far beyond children of their grade level and to encourage them to always exceed higher than any expectation.  It is for this reason that Al-Qalam Academy has adopted the motto of “Aiming to Excel.” As our students and children aim to excel through the use of strong curriculum taught by dedicated teachers we will provide our utmost attention and care.

The Overall School Objectives include:

• Teachers should work together across multiple disciplines to create activities that can be used in several classes
• Students should be actively engaged with the educational material through use in assignments and projects which resemble every day life.
• Students will learn and acquire effective and efficient study habits and apply them to all subjects.
• Students will practice Islamic etiquette and gain Islamic knowledge.
• Students should be strong in all subject matters, especially the four main disciplines of English, Math, Science, and History.

With the help of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala first, then with the dedication of our teachers and staff and cooperation of the parents, these objectives will be met InshaAllah.
